When Personal Styling is Inviting and Not Intimidating

When you imagine personal styling, what comes to mind? Do you think of make-over shows past, where hosts ambush unsuspecting clients to tell them how bad they look? Do you think about well-manicured Stylistas who come around to "fix" people so they can be more trendy, maybe tossing in an obligatory note of encouragement at the end?

I once saw an episode of a makeover show where the lady said of being stylist-ambushed, "I've had to have several rum-and-cokes to feel better about myself after today."

Because of these examples, I think stylists have a reputation for being adult professional Mean Girls and Guys. For most self-respecting men and women, having someone nit-pick their appearance and then ask them to pay for that isn't all that appealing.

Yeah, it isn't for me either. But I believe this is a counterfeit to true styling help.

So what is the Real Thing? How about if stylists were actually here to serve and not control people? They would see the True Person under each client's appearance, and they would long for that beauty to emerge! The stereotype says stylists are for people who have no style, or people who want to know how to dress "fashionably." I say, however, that stylists are for anyone who wants to to be more  authentic on the outside!

For me as I do Stacey's Styling, it's really about one thing. I believe that the world is made up of 100% unique people everywhere. Each one's true beauty represents his or her inner strength and other qualities the world needs to be complete. So when I find people who desire help in expressing their soul, I want to contribute! An authentic person, to me, is one of the most beautiful sights I've ever seen!

If styling is something you've been tossing around, I encourage you to consider these points! If they resonate, come check us out!
