No Pattern Making Skills Required

As I continue the fun adventure of bringing Lily Inc. to life, Heavenly Papa (that is, God) teaches me sweet things about Himself and His love for me.

I was thinking that before I get things to a manufacturer, I had to produce a perfect pattern and samples. I was nervous, because I am relatively new to garment making. But my dear friend who worked in manufacturing for a time gave me the greatest news! She said that even if the samples I make (which, I really don't even have to do) are not quite right, manufacturers will correct them so that they are exactly what I want them to be!

This makes me think of God's amazing heart towards us. Sometimes I think of how I wish I loved people better, or I wish I were better at this or that. God has created the deep desires of our heart, and He knows we long to please Him. Did you know that even your weak love towards him is something he loves and cherishes? He longs to make it just-right.

It reminds me of a sweet day at my old job in Boston. I had submitted a proposal to our Senior Ops Director. I used whatever experience I had to put that proposal together, and I thought it was good. :)
I was frustrated that he didn't seem to agree. I wondered if he didn't respect my work because of my position as an assistant rather than as a leader.

But then God brought this beautiful light to the situation. See, this director was not merely a colleague, but he had become a friend. He is a wise older gentleman, and for a minute he took off his director hat and put on his father hat. He said to me, "Stacey, it's not that I don't like your idea. I think it is good. It's just that the method isn't going to get you where you want to go. I don't want you to take this path and arrive somewhere else only to be frustrated." That so ministered to my heart. I returned to my desk and heard God say, "I am the same way."

But God doesn't stop there! He takes our flawed methods and actually corrects the pattern to be all He desires, and all you desire at the core of your being! Is it that you want to find a great man to marry? God will work out the kinks you don't see. Is it that you want to be a better mom to your kids? God, who created your heart and designed you to be Mom to them, will see to it that it works best. No matter what the deep desires, no matter what it is that you have drawn out, God will come in and make it work if you ask Him!

Rest in this peace that, when you invite your Creator into your processes, He will make everything just right. The Bible says that He will make ALL THINGS new! Joy!
